I’m often asked, “How can you make any money with Open Source software?” While I’ll attempt to answer this question in this post, the real topic to be discussed here is why developers like and want to freely give their code away; why open source matters, why it works. I found this site the other day and love the concept of using code — CSS — to make rounded corners. Nice work. It will solve several code and workflow issues for me.

I’ve been re-introduced to some social networking tools this past few weeks. I was thinking I’d build a custom Joomla website for the Patagonia Tools for Grassroots Organizer’s Conference I’ll be attending at the end of the month, and then had the idea that I was really missing an opportunity to do something better — and easier.
